The 2008 Service Auction – “Hot Dates, Hot Dishes, and Hot Deals” will take place Saturday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the UUCP sanctuary. The Service Auction is a major fundraiser for the UUCP, as well as a great way to fill your social calendar for the Spring and Summer.

This year’s theme will emphasize the fun in the sun that service auction activities provide, as well as the warm feeling you can get when you support the UUCP community through donations and bids.

One of the mainstays of the Service Auction is the opportunity to bid on dinners, social events and outdoor activities hosted by members of the UUCP. The events range from chocolate tastings to Indian dinners to kids events and everything in between. We encourage all of you to consider hosting an event for the service auction. If you don’t have the funds or the location to host an event by yourself, this year we’ll do an “event pool” to try to match folks who are interested in working together to put on something fun.

AT YOUR SERVICE

Services are another great seller at the auction.

Can you teach someone to ski, watercolor or whistle? Can you read first drafts of poems or stories and provide critical but supportive feedback? If so, or if you can do some other unique or wonderful thing, then someone in our UUCP community could probably use your services.

ONE OF A KIND

Do you have a brand new or one of a kind item that others may love or want more than you? We could use your antiques, original art and fine collectables.

We can also use one of a kind desserts to auction.

Remember also to start thinking about what services or items you would like to offer. This is usually our largest fundraiser for the UUCP, so please show off your talents or host an event or sell a special item. Details will be coming in announcements and the March newsletter, but start planning now!!
