By now, we hope that everyone distressed by the proposed Wal-MartSuperCenter has checked out the blog for Moscow's grass-roots community effort, NoSuperWal-Mart. The UUCP is very well-represented in this core group organizing the resistance.

The Blog, which you can find at www.NoSuperWalMart.com, has a lot of news about how the effort is progressing and things you can do to help.

The most important thing that those of you interested in keeping Moscow Super-Center free can do TODAY is sign the petition which is being circulated by NoSuperWal-Mart asking the City Council to reconsider the comprehensive plan designation given to the proposed supercenter site last summer. The group hopes to present the signed petition to the council at next Tuesday's meeting and would like to have as many signatures (from Moscow residents) as possible.

If you are Moscow Resident, you can sign the petition on line at the NoSuperWal-Mart web site. You can also sign the old-fashioned way. You can find the petition at local businesses including Bookpeople, Natural Abode and Paradise Ridge Bicycles. There are also copies upstairs at the UUCP, and downstairs at coffee hour.

NoSuperWal-Mart will also be collecting signatures at the Moscow Food Coop this Saturday and Sunday. Please come and bring your friends and neighbors!!!!
