The Great Turning

On May 11th come hear Veronica Lassen share exciting news from the Great Turning Gathering held recently in Columbus, OH. Join with others working as part of the international transition to create a sustainable world.

The world has experienced over 5000 years of paternalistic, "Empire" type government and policymaking which has led to almost continuous war, and a growing gap between the very rich and very poor. This "usual" way of doing things is causing issues in the world's support systems. Presenter David Korten, author of The Great Turning, said only a major shift toward cooperation and away from exploitation will prevent a "Great Unraveling."

The evening will include:
* A showing of a David Korten DVD on the Great Turning;
* Info about David Cobb and the 2004 Green ticket presidential candidate's county ordinance making it illegal for non-local (read: deep pockets) corporations to contribute money to local elections;
* Time to explore how to be more effective in our work with global warming, justice, just economics, hunger, poverty, diversity, equality, children, the environment, etc, etc, by building local networks;
* Deconstructing Empire stories, using Compassionate Communication, to have the clarity we need to create Earth-community.

The workshop will be May 11th, 7-9pm, Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse sanctuary, corner of 2nd and Van Buren, Moscow, Idaho. Everyone is invited and the event is free and open to the public, with donations gladly accepted to cover expenses.

As we turn from money to life as our defining value, and as we turn from domination to partnership, we will create the conditions necessary for vibrant health for our planet and all living things.

The Great Turning Workshop is sponsored by the Compassionate Communication Network of the Palouse and the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse Social Action Committee.
