The above Java script interactive widget searches the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse online library catalog. It searches the title, author, and shelf category fields for the term you enter and will list any matching books that are in the catalog.

Your security settings may not allow your computer to run scripts without permission. If a message such as, "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..." appears in the Internet Explorer Information Bar, click the message and then from the options that appear, click Allow, if you wish to use this handy search the catalog feature.

Search strategies:
* Search for any single word that might be in an author's name, in a title, or in the name of a shelf category. The result will list the books / items, if any, that have that word in the author field, title field, and/or shelf category (tag) field.
* Search for an exact phrase in a title by using double quotation marks.
* Search for more than one word without quotation marks to find all books in which any entered word appears in any searched field.
* Search for an author's full name in double quotation marks in the order "lastname firstname". For example, a search on "Shakespeare William" will find works authored by William Shakespeare, but a search on Shakespeare William without quotation marks will find books authored by anyone named Shakespeare and by anyone named William. To be thorough, search again on "firstname lastname," that being the usual order for names of additional authors of a book.

The search results will list the author and title of each matching book, if any, in the UUCP library. If you click on any of the listed titles, a screen will appear with more details about the library's copy of that title. However, if you click an author in the search results, a screen will appear giving you information about various books by that author, including books in other libraries besides ours. Ergo, click the title, not the author.

When you click on a title and the information page appears, look under "User data" at "tags" for the category in which that book is shelved, usually beginning Shelf:. Use your browser back arrow to return here.
